1.Sales questions
  • What is the procedure in submitting my project to Exosun ?

In order to assess the feasability of your project, we invite you to contact our sales department by e-mail:in order to discuss your needs and the solution that is best adapted.

  • How much does an Exosun solar power plant cost ?

There is no simple answer to this question, because the costs differ depending on the technologies chosen, the scale and location of the project etc. A case by case study is done for each prospect to evaluate the investment required.

  • Is it possible to buy your tracking system by the unit, or is there a minimum quantity necessary per sale ?

It is not possible to buy a tracker by the unit; this system is designed to be used in turnkey power plants or in very large-scale power plant projects for a minimum land surface of 5 hectares.

  • What type of maintenance do Exosun power plants require ?

Like any electricity plant, the solar plants built by Exosun require preventive maintenance :
-A monitoring of production and system function via the internet.
-An annual visit by our technical team to look after major mechanical and electrical devices.

  • What are the additional costs of maintenance for power plants equipped with tracking systems, compared to fixed systems ?

None.

  • Are Exosun power plants guaranteed ?

Yes, the power plants we build have a 20-year guarantee on parts and workmanship.

  • In which countries does Exosun’s team operate ?

Exosun builds power plants all over in the world.

2. Questions regarding EXOSUN’s offers and technical solutions
  • What are the benefits of tracking systems in comparison to fixed systems ?

Tracking systems are designed, developed and built by Exosun (Exotrack Range). Their function is to increase the PV modules production by 20 to 40% in comparison to fixed systems, perfectly inclined. Their ability to move into a safety position allows them to resist winds of up to 200 km/h. Moreover, the architecture of the Exotrack product drastically diminishes the impact of the power plant on its surrounding biotope all through its lifetime.

  • What are the main technical benefits of Exosun’s solutions ?

All our offers include :
• A 20-year guarantee on parts and workmanship.
• Adaptability of our systems with all brands and types of PV modules.
• Shadow management controlled by an astronomical program with backtracking (shadow avoidance).
• Production monitoring and maintenance assured by Exosun without additional costs.
• Perfect landscape integration.

  • What is Backtracking?

Tracking systems are controlled by an astronomical algorithm which calculates the sun’s position from the geographical position of the power plant, date and time. The motorization of the trackers is informed of the proper position to give the PV modules, and then positions the trackers with a 1/10th of degree accuracy. A correction is then applied to the algorithm, allowing the PV modules to avoid shadow on the extremities of the course of the sun. This correction is called BACKTRACKING, which means in programming language: “A strategy for finding all (or some) solutions to some computational problem”.

  • At which stage of your solar project can Exosun intervene?

We evaluate your needs as soon as you possess all the elements regarding your land, when the necessary authorizations are launched (building authorizations…)
We can intervene either as a project planner, including sourcing and building of tracking systems and the connection of your PV modules, or as a general contractor managing the entire planning and building of the turnkey power plant.

  • Is it possible to install Exotrack systems on roofs ?

No, our technologies are not designed for building integration constraints. Our offers concern only ground-mounted solar plants.

  • What is the life expectancy of a solar plant designed and built by Exosun ?

The power plants we provide are guaranteed parts and workmanship for 20 years but are designed to last beyond that. Therefore, we believe the PV modules used will then be replaced with new generation ones in order to offer a second life cycle to your investment.

  • What is the impact of an Exosun PV plant on the environment?

Photovoltaics is considered a renewable energy because it uses an inexhaustible primary source of energy, the sun.
There is no pollution emission during the transformation of solar energy into electricity.  Moreover, the manufacturing, operations and end of life cycle of Exosun systems have among the lowest impacts on the environment on the market.

  • Is it possible to follow the production of the power plant ?

For each plant built by Exosun there is a periodic statement of the electrical production, the business figures, and the carbon dioxide emissions avoided.

  • Is it possible to visit one of your power plants ?

The power plants we build are, before anything else, electrical production units subject to security norms and constraints. We can meet with you to discuss your project, and on this occasion show you our constructions in their environment.

3. Financial questions
  • How can I know the profitability ratio of my investment ?

Since many elements must be taken into consideration upon a feasibility study, you must contact our Business service to obtain a quotation.  We can also provide you with a 20-year Business Plan of your plant’s operations.  All costs as well as the takings will be mentioned in the study to provide you with a realistic offer.

  • Is it possible to follow the production of the power plant ?

For each plant built by Exosun there is a periodic statement of the electrical production, the business figures, and the carbon dioxide emissions avoided.

  • What help is available to me in financing my project ?

Every aid policy is different, we therefore advise you to contact your political representatives for additional information.

4. Questions of landowners and individuals
  • What type of land is relevant for Exosun’s products ?

We privilege surfaces superior to 5 hectares for private investments and productions, as well as landlord solutions. Furthermore, a plot of land is said to have a good potential when it is relatively flat, and even more so with a slight downhill slope to the south, and when it is located close to a medium or high voltage electrical line. It is also important to have roads nearby with a large enough access for construction vehicles. Do not hesitate to contact us for advice:

It all depends on the location and technology used. For example, for a land located close to Marseille, in the south east of France, the annual production of a one hectare power plant equipped with Exotrack 2-axis tracking systems equipped with crystalline PV modules will be 506 000 kWh on average for an installed capacity of around 280 kWpKilowatt peak: Puissance théorique normalisée.

  • What help is available to me in financing the construction of a solar plant ?

Every aid policy is different, we therefore advise you to contact your political representatives for additional information.

  • At which stage of my project does Exosun intervene ?

Exosun offers global solutions for your power plant projects. Our offers are personalized according to your requests.  Discover the best solution for you.

  • How can I know if the annual solar potential of my land is interesting enough ?

The solar potential of a location depends on several factors: geographical location (latitude, longitude, height, topography) and natural climatic conditions (cloud layer). You can learn more about this by visiting the European Union Joint Research Center

5. Journalist's questions
  • Where are the plants already built by Exosun ?

The Montesquieu solar power plant, a pilot site of  100 kWpKilowatt peak: Puissance théorique normalisée, is located on a 3500 m² plot of land in Martillac, south west of France, close to Bordeaux. The plant was connected to the grid on the 22nd of September 2008. This plant is equipped with 126 double-axis tracking systems from the Exotrack range, and produces the equivalent of the annual electrical needs of 40 houses.

In April 2009, in Losse, on the Commonwealth of Gabardan, Exosun began the construction of a 2 MWpMégawatt peak: Puissance théorique normalisée. On 7 hectares more than 2000 Exotrack 2-axis trackers are installed, and will produce the equivalent of the annual electrical needs of 800 houses

  • Is it possible to visit the pilot plant of Montesquieu, in Martillac ?
